“I was horrified yet again to see mis-information on the so called Cervical Cancer protection injection. It was in a newspaper article recently and refers to the injection preventing cervical cancer. When will people realise it does NOT prevent cancer, it prevents the cervix being affected by the Human Papilloma wart virus which is just one of several causes of cervical cancer so this injection does not cover all of them. Other causes relate to multiple partners, possibly the pill long term, Folic acid deficiency, and irritation of the cervix by other infections.
Young women are going around thinking that because they have had the jab they cannot get cervical cancer. This is not the case. What is also happening is that because they believe this they are not having their routine smears and simply trusting that they are protected. I predict an increase in cervical cancer as a result in the next 10-20 years.
